Description: The Nordic Tug line of boats, have built their reputation on safety, reliability, and comfort, all wrapped up in traditional tug boat styling. They have a semi-displacement hull built with hand-laid reinforced fiberglass with full keel and hard chine, giving them exceptional stability, handling qualities, and quiet ride. These very popular cruising vessels feature roomy salons/galleys and separate pilothouse with 360 degree view and 6’8” headroom.
Classic, Solid and Seaworthy are words associated with the name Nordic Tugs. This well-deserved reputation is the result of uncompromising dedication to design and quality for over a quarter of a century. The 54 is Nordic Tugs largest and most impressive yacht.
This proven blue water veteran features a single screw with three staterooms in a spacious and comfortable layout. The single engine provides performance similar to a twin screw with speeds in the teens. Inside are accommodations not normally found on a yacht this size.
The 54 interior is classic Nordic Tugs with its beautifully oiled teak woodwork and fine craftsmanship. The immense salon provides an enjoyable living space with abundant seating and good visibility. Going below from the salon there is a central hallway leading to the three staterooms and two heads. This hallway also provides the main access to the enormous engine room, passing first through a mechanical room and then through a watertight door. Engine room access is also available through a watertight door in the lazerette.
In the spacious galley are hand-made Corian counters, high-end appliances and storage for extended passages. Opposite the galley is an additional counter for serving food, drinks or dining.
The broad ship style pilothouse features incredible visibility in all directions. The large helm has an extensive array of electronics and has been carefully designed for operator comfort. To port is a co-pilot seat for a second set of eyes on watch, or for lounging. A U-shaped dinette with seating for 6 is also in the pilothouse. The pilothouse is perfect for dining, relaxing or entertaining. There is direct access from the pilothouse to the boat deck or top of salon deck.
In the enormous watertight engine room is a single 660hp electronic Cummins diesel which can provide mid teens speeds when needed. The 1,300 gallon fuel capacity can provide a 3,000 mile range when run at efficient hull speeds. Aft of the main is a 12kW generator along with 500 gallons of fresh water capacity.
Simple and easy to operate systems aboard allow a cruising couple to run the boat with confidence. The 54 is no more complex than the Nordic Tug 42 or 37. The bow thruster, stern thruster, and large rudder make the 54 very maneuverable.
Below the waterline is a unique hull that provides a comfortable, seaworthy ride and performance usually found only on twin-screw boats. A propeller tunnel provides room for a larger prop, which increases blade area and reduces shaft angle, resulting in greater efficiency and more speed. The fully sealed centerline keel protects the underwater running gear. The hard chine reduces rolling and eliminates the need for stabilizers. The hull is solid fiberglass with coring material above the waterline for strength, rigidity, and insulation.
Above you will find walk-around decks, abundant storage, and plenty of room for dinghies and other items. To ensure ease of maintenance, there is no exterior woodwork. The 54 is built to exceed ABYC standards.
